The engine that drives Spore may be licensed out to developers for all sorts of applications according to reports on GameDaily.
Although not in the same league as the Unreal engine, the Spore engine does use some hardcore and innovative technologies which may be best suited to deep strategy titles or RPG games.
"What's so beautiful about Spore is that it's extremely malleable," said Frank Gibeau, EA games label president. "You could add RPG or action, you could take it to different platforms, like (Web-page) flash games, the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360, Nintendo's Wii. It really travels well to other platforms."
But could the option to create the way we play as well as the protagonist evolve the games industry? Or is this just a fad that will soon be forgotten?
