The World's Best Selling Games

A new report produced by The NPD Group, GfK Chart-Track Limited and Enterbrain highlights video game sales in the world's three biggest gaming markets.

The Top Global Markets Report combines point of sale data from the UK, US and Japan and the monthly report will show worldwide and country-specific totals.

"The video games business has become increasingly global, with the majority of the publishers releasing games in multiple markets,” said industry analyst Anita Frazier. "The U.S, as the world’s largest market will be able to view and compare sales for the first time outside of their own market."

The first report shows Grand Theft Auto IV topping the chart with 6,293,000 worldwide sales despite not being released in Japan. Super Smash Bros: Brawl is in second place followed by Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit and Guitar Hero III.
