A Thai videogame distributor has halted sales of Grand Theft Auto IV following a murder in Bangkok.
An 18 year old high school student has confessed to robbing and killing a taxi driver, claiming he was inspired by Rockstar's open world crime thriller.
"He said he wanted to find out if it was as easy in real life to rob a taxi as it was in the game," said police investigator Veeravit Pipattanasak, speaking to Reuters. The teenager could face death by lethal injection if found guilty of the crime.
The news prompted distributor New Era Interactive Media to stop sales of the game by sending requests to retailers.
