Halo Blue Rumour

Gamespot has apparently been told by a secret source "with first hand knowledge of Bungie's development" that a new Halo title will be announced this year.

The game will reportedly continue the story of the UNSC's ongoing battle against the Covenant but will not feature series star, Master Chief. Gamespot's source suggests the new game will be a co-op squad shooter and will be a "cross between Ghost Recon and Gears of War".

The cartoony feel of the franchise will also be abandoned, said the source, with the game offering a "more bloody, violent and grim" experience.

The news follows reports of a new Halo title, Halo 'Blue', appearing in US retailer Wal-Mart's internal database at the weekend.
