FIFA 09 is set to feature 10 vs 10 online play on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Speaking to Gamesradar, EA Sports' David Rutter said the developer has achieved this through "strength of will and technological nous".
He also hinted that full 11 vs 11 play may not be too far away. "We want to make sure the control system for controlling goalkeepers is compelling enough before putting it in," said Rutter "because no game has done it particularly well, if it's even been in there."
FIFA 09 will also expand upon the innovative Be a Pro Mode introduced in FIFA 08, offering a full career mode. After creating a player or choosing an existing one, you must develop his skills in a single outfield position over a period of four years.
