EA have apologised for quite a sensitive error that features on their new UEFA Euro 2008 game. The error in question is that of the anthem of Northern Ireland, which should be God Save Our Queen and not the militaristic The Soldier’s Song, usually sang at United Ireland sports.
The Londonerry Sentinal said that fans of the game were “surprised” to hear the anthem.
In an effort to put things right, Shaun White, an EA mouthpiece, said “[EA] pride ourselves on delivering rich and authentic videogame experiences. We sincerely apologise for this error."
Northern Irish Sports Minister, Gregory Campbell welcomed the apology and commented that although there was “a lack of knowledge on the makers’ part,” he is sure that the error will “be changed as soon as possible.”
EA Sports, it’s in the game…or is it?
