At last, an end to the oh-yes-he-is-oh-no-he-isn’t, as Atari confirms that former Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president, Phil Harrison is joining the company as president.
Harrison’s departure from Sony was announced a week ago and he is the latest key industry name to join the company. Former EA worldwide studios boss, David Gardner recently jumped ship to Atari as CEO, vowing to assemble a “world class management team”. It looks like things are going according to plan with the likes of Harrison on board.
Atari has big plans to become a major player in the online gaming sector, so we’ll be watching this space to see if it makes good on its promises.
Harrison said, “This is the perfect time to join Infogrames and help shape the future of Atari - one of the industry's legendary brands. As the game business moves rapidly online I believe we have an outstanding opportunity to create amazing network game and community experiences for players the world over. I am especially excited to be working on this challenge together with David, one of the most respected leaders and successful executives in our industry."
