After all the hype, the Halo 3 Beta has now closed. According to Microsoft, the test saw 820,000 unique participants take part and there was more than 12 million hours of online gameplay.
In other stat news, during the beta 350 terabytes of data was downloaded from Xbox LIVE, the equivalent to more than 82 million digital music downloads from the Internet. The save film feature also proved popular with 580,000 saved films being created by users taking up 2.7 terabytes of data. With all these stats Bungie are regrouping to make sure that everything runs as smoothly as possible for the game's launch.
To cash in on the Halo 3 madness, Microsoft are releasing numerous pieces of gear including two new Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo 3 Wireless Controllers designed by Spawn and McFarlane Toys creator Todd McFarlane, as well as an Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo 3 Wireless Headset. Both these items will be available early September but can be pre-ordered today.
