Will we be able to play as any of the squad, or will the FPS action be limited to just a handful of the team?

You will be able to play as any of the present squad members in FPS mode at any time.

Is the game linear, or will players be able to explore the world that they've crash landed in?

The game is story-centric, so the overall structure will be a linear, mission based one. The objectives the player will receive will be based on decisions made by the characters in the game. This story is about their survival in the Amazon and the player is the invisible hand of god who helps them get out of there alive.

Will you be able to hijack vehicles?

You will be able to mount vehicles in the game, either for transport and protection or for getting some extra firepower.

Presumably this will be an online game too, how many people will it support online?

The game has an online two player cooperative campaign mode. This mode lets the player play the entire story with a friend. Each player controls one of the squads exclusively, which combined with the two control methods, open up a whole new level of tactical possibilities.

Will there be a split screen/co-op option?

No, only online coop is available.

How will this game stand up to future RTS games being released, such as Ubisofts' Endwar?

This game can’t really be compared to traditional RTS games, even innovative RTS like Endwar. Let me demonstrate through an example. Take a tactical RTS game and compare it to RS starting in RTS mode. In RS there are all the standard unit command possibilities, the unit’s HPs and ammo are displayed on the interface. You can issue commands to your squads, guide them close to enemy units and give regular or special attack commands to them. You engage the enemy and a regular RTS-like fight begins.

The difference here is that at any time you can instantly switch to FPS mode and control any of your soldiers. This is when the game turns into a full-fledged FPS with the expected highly detailed environments, familiar controls and ferocious enemies that threaten to end your life from close range. This gives the game its real distinctive essence.


What's your favourite thing about the game?

I really like the music and the graphics of the game but my favourite moment might be the moment when you switch from RTS to FPS and drop into the action. That quick experience is really something.

Recently story lines are playing a major role in driving the narrative forward. What is Raven Squad about?

The story revolves around a group of elite mercenaries who are sent in the Amazonian jungle to retrieve a package from a crashed plane near the Brazilian-Colombian border. On their way their plane also gets shot down and most of them die in the crash. Only 8 members survive, and they soon learn that they dropped right in the middle of a civil war. Their battle for survival begins.
