The game will bring back a familiar hero - John Tanner, from the first Driver game - and an old foe, Driver 2's Jericho. Pursuits, wheelspins and a decent soundtrack ... so far, nothing too unexpected.
Except, in a Life on Mars style twist, Tanner is actually in a coma. Not only is he in a coma, he can use his in-coma abilities to hover out of a car, mid-drive and possess a completely different vehicle (I need to check some medical textbooks to see if this is an actual side-effect.)
In the demonstration, the view altered from a first-person driving perspective, to a third-person 'disembodied magical being floating above the world and my car' view. At this point, the view could be manipulated so other, passing cars could be jumped into - switching the view back to the traditional one.
The backstory for all this sounds completely bonkers, but the feature itself looked like it had a lot of potential (for roadside carnage if nothing else.)
