WoW has been a phenomenon and every month we await some sort of press release revealing a huge boost in subscibers. This month, according to the figures released by Vivendi, 9.3 million gamers are now spending their time in Azeroth.
The slump that the so called MMO experts predicted seems not to have happened, WoW has so far managed to kick the subscriber drop-off trend. Why? It's simple, the competition is simply sub-standard, nobody has come up with something quite as playable which is surprising considering how long WoW has been on the market. So who will give it a run for its money? Hard to say, but Warhammer Online could have a damn good crack at it when it's released next year.
According to the info from Vivendi, WoW has seen its player base rise by 1 million users since the start of this year and with the expansion annoucned earlier this year at BlizzCon, the future is looking bright. Needless to say Vivendi's sales are up thanks to WoW and also the recently released RTS World in Conflict..
