Capcom has announced it will release a Championship Mode for Street Fighter IV next week.
The free new game mode allows players to take part in tournaments and watch replays of the best matches. The mode offers five different grades of tournaments for players of varying skill levels and introduces the Grade Points system. Score a win in a tournament and you’ll earn GP, while winning the entire tournament will earn you Championship Points, the equivalent of “prize money.”
The replay modes differ slightly for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. On PSN replays can be watched and then rated, with the replays ranked based on their rating. On LIVE, however, rather than rating the matches, they can be downloaded and studied. You can even view the players’ input commands and joystick movements.
The Championship Mode is due for release next Friday at no cost.
