Racing to the finish line takes on added excitement when competitorstrigger destruction on the track to take out their opponents. DisneyInteractive Studios today announced Split/Second, an intense actionracing game set within the world of a hyper-competitive realitytelevision show. Competitors vie to be the first across the finish linein a made-for-TV city built for destruction, with the ultimate goal ofbecoming the season champion. Developed by Black Rock Studio,Split/Second is scheduled to be released in early 2010 for the Xbox360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3computer entertainment system and Windows-based PC.

Competitorsin Split/Second don’t just collide with other vehicles to knock themfrom the track - they can also trigger explosive events thatdrastically alter the dynamics of the race. Players must use strategyand pinpoint timing to derail opponents, tactically alter the track orcreate entirely new routes.

“Split/Second elevates action racingto a new level by enabling players to strategically take out theiropponents by dynamically altering the course in real time,” said CraigRelyea, senior vice president of global marketing, Disney InteractiveStudios. “Split/Second further showcases Black Rock Studio’s ability toinnovate and deliver a compelling experience that has wide appealbeyond the traditional racing genre.”

Black RockStudio is the development studio behind the critically acclaimed 2008action sports game, PURE. PURE won numerous awards, including the GameCritics Award for Best Racing Game of E3 2008, and was named among thetop 10 video games of 2008 by Entertainment Weekly. Formerly ClimaxRacing, Black Rock Studio is a development studio of Disney InteractiveStudios and is based in Brighton, England.
