Rockstar VS Media Molecule In DIEA

Nominations for Develop Industry Excellence Awards are unveiled, and two developers are likely to walk away with most of them.

Rockstar and Media Molecule will be contesting for the most category nominations. Rockstar snags six of them with GTA: Chinatown Wars and GTA IV: The Lost and the Damned from Rockstar while Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet alone is nominated for another five.

The DIEAs are the only accolades honouring development achievements for the European community. They will announce 16 awards over four categories with a Grand Prix award determined by the development team themselves.

"The shortlist covers everything from traditional console games to iPhone, Facebook, Flash and social experiences, proving just what a rewarding and vibrant sector games development in Europe is," said Michael French, editor-in-chief at Develop magazine.

The awards are held in association with Partnertrans, Black Rock Studios, Babel Media and Crytek. Awards will be given out at the event, held 15 July at the Hilton Metropole Brighton and hosted by Jason Manford.

Seat reservations start at £199 GBP per person, but will be more expensive after 15 June.
