THQ has announced a new Marvel game based on the Super Hero Squad show, and has released some details.
The new super hero game will be a multiplayer adventure game with "non-stop action-adventure gameplay and epic battles," and "will feature an animation style that will appeal to a younger audience, but its depth in graphics and gameplay will also engage the more mature, avid fans of the renowned Marvel brand," according to Kevin Kraff of THQ.
"Launching the Marvel Super Hero Squad video game is a key component in the brand expansion," said Simon Phillips, at Marvel Animation. The press release hints it could possibly be the first game in a series.
Cartoon Network's Super Hero Squad animated series will air this autumn, but a release date is not yet announced for the Marvel game.
Two modes of gameplay have so far been announced: Battle Mode is a game mode for battle arena against up to three opponents and Adventure Mode lets people play through six campaigns based on the animated series.
The Super Hero Squad is out to stop Dr. Doom's plans to recover the all-powerful Infinity Sword. Players will be able to play over 20 Marvel heroes and villains, of which the following have been announced: Captain America, Dr. Doom, Falcon, Hulk, Iron Man, Juggernaut, Ms. Marvel, Silver Surfer, Thing, Thor and Wolverine.
We will see Super Hero Squad on the Wii, DS, PS2 and PSP.
