These cinematics don’t pay for themselves.

If you plan to sign up to a recurring World of Warcraft subscription plan in the UK, you’ll now be paying slightly more than before. Blizzard has announced pricing changes to the 30, 90 and 180 recurring subs plans.

Current subscribers on recurring plans will not see any pricing changes for two years. Blizzard says it will inform people two months in advance of when their subscription plan is about to change. People signing up to World of Warcraft in the near future will pay the following prices:

30 Days – £9.99 (up from £8.99)
90 Days – £28.17 (up from £25.17)
180 Days – £52.14 (up from £46.14)

Blizzard says the change will take place “at the Warlords of Draenor release,” (13 November) so this could be a slight marketing gimmick to encourage people to hop on again before that occurs. The blame is placed on “local and regional market conditions.” You’d think Blizzard would be swimming in enough World of Warcraft money (even with slightly dipping subscription numbers) to not have to do this, but I guess the company feel differently.

What does “local and regional market conditions.” mean? Their server farm is charging more now? I can’t imagine that would necessitate a 11-13% increase in subs for every user.
