The Evil Within - 04

Whew, what a relief! I was having nightmares that might not have DLC I can pre-order.

Thankfully, have set me straight. The Evil Within will indeed have a Season Pass, because it’s a videogame in the year 2015 and thus that’s basically mandatory. It’ll cost you £14.99, and it’ll net you discounts on all three of the planned bits of DLC for the game.

In all fairness, this DLC sounds at least a little bit more interesting than the usual 2 NEW MULTIPLAYER MAPS or NEW HAT AND GUN FOR PROTAGONIST dross. The first gives you control of Boxman (who, unfortunately, is apparently more officially known as The Keeper) in “a sadistic collection of mission-based maps.” The second and third bits of DLC form a two-part story that has you control Juli Kidman, the mysterious partner of protagonist Sebastian Castellanos, as she unravels what I’m assuming will be another side to the game’s story.

The Evil Within is a forthcoming survival horror title from , perhaps better known as The Guy That Did The Resident Evil Games. It’s due out on 14 October in North America and 17 October in Europe, and there are five new screenshots below.

I have no idea if any of you will read down this far, but looking at those screenshots… okay, yes, there’s a bit where a chainsaw-wielding lunatic is chasing you, and that’s quite Resident Evil 4 and therefore great. But I’ve only just noticed that Boxman/The Keeper’s head isn’t a box; it’s a safe. I suppose “Safeman” just sounds like an incredibly boring superhero, though. Bets on whether that safe contains a plot-critical/story-revealing item?
