Star Citizen

The money keeps on rolling in an it’s thanks to recent sales of the Gladius and there’s a new stretch goal for Alien languages.

The United Empire of Earth’s current front-line light fighter has helped push the crowdfunding total for Star Citizen beyond the $48 million mark. This latest goal means that the Retaliator will get its own commercial and according to Cloud Imperium they are “going in a different direction with this one!”

  • Retaliator Commercial – It was a close race but The Retaliator pulled ahead. The Avenger was a close second. The symbol of the United Empire of Earth’s power is the next ship to receive a slick commercial. Aegis Dynamics is in dire need of good publicity since the end of the of the Messer era. We currently have the Cutlass and the Constellation commercials in production and now the Retaliator will be added to that list.

The latest Arena Commander update news was also shared by Chris Roberts as they push to a v12.5 release. They say they have eliminated server and server CPU traffic as the source of the rubber banding but there are still eleven other possibilities tat could be causing the issue.

Up next is the $50 million goal which is Alien Languages to help flesh out the Star Citizen universe.

  • Alien Languages – Do you speak Banu? We will work with real-world linguists to create distinctive and realistic alien languages for Star Citizen’s three biggest alien races, the Vanduul, the Xi’An and the Banu. No universal translators, no garbled animal noises: Star Citizen’s aliens will be speaking their own authentic languages!

It’s an interesting addition and we’re intrigued how they’ll handle that one. Are we all going to need translators now too?

You can find some new concept art in the update for some of the game’s locations and there’s a also ten more questions answered by Chris Roberts in his latest Q&A slot.

  1. Interesting. If they speak another language and there is no universal translator which would of course render developing languages pointless, how do you understand them? There obviously has to be some sort of translation going on somewhere.
