Rise of Incarnates announces beta for August
rise of incarnates

Either these guys are really tall or the imaginary camera man is tiny.

’s free-to-play fighting game will be heading into a closed beta phase in August, and they want you to play too. There’s a sign-up page over here for putting your email address in the hat for a code. You’ll ultimately need a Steam account, so don’t bother if you don’t want to have one of those.

The beta session is said to run from 8 August to 17 August, so you’ll have nine days in which to beat up … whatever the characters in Rise of Incarnates actually are. Oh, hold on, I’ve just looked up what the Incarnate characters are and the answer is: “humans who can draw powers from daimones; spirit manifestations of the gods, demons, and monsters from all of the world’s mythologies.” So there you go. Apart from the odd way of spelling “demon” that’s fairly clear.

During the closed beta you’ll be able to play as Mephistopheles, Lilith, Grim Reaper, and Ares. Another character called Brynhildr will be added on 13 August, about half way through.

New York and Paris will be available as locations in which to do all of your punching and daimone-power-drawing. There will also be “a selection of in-game purchasable options available,” so you might get an indication of whether Rise of Incarnates is going to be one of the tolerable free-to-play type games, or one of the malicious ones.
