League of Legends tops Core PC games list for June

has released new statistic in conjunction with Overwolf to reveal the most popular PC games played in June according to their data gathering.

The data has been compiled from Overwolf‘s in-game software which includes Teamspeak and their game capture software. It’s not surprising to see top the ranking, followed closely by , World of Tanks, CS:GO and .

The data also shows that giving away free games can boost your player base with appearing in the list after EA decided to give it away for free for a limited time.

Titles on the rise also include Garry’s Mod which was cheap in the Steam sale. Titles on the slide include , Hearthstone and ARMA 3.

While these stats are by no means a full representation of what PC gamers are actually playing it’s an interesting insight into a portion of the PC gaming community.

These numbers will now be compiled each month and NewZoo CEO Peter Warman had this to say about the stats and new collaboration with Overwolf.

“At Newzoo, we are always on the lookout for new data sources that give practical insights and complement our own primary research, data modelling and financial analysis. The sheer number of Overwolf software users, its ability to track almost any game as well as its even spread of gamers across North America and Europe are unique.”
