Final Fantasy XIV - 19

You too can create weird cat people wearing nothing but a couple of leather straps – FOR FREE!

Moogle-fanciers, rejoice: if you want to try Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn but don’t want to pay for it, now’s your chance.

At 6pm BST tonight (about 35 minutes from the time of writing) you’ll be able to sign up for a free trial of Final Fantasy XIV which offers 14 days of play, up to a level cap of 20. There are reportedly other restrictions in place, but as the trial has yet to begin, I don’t actually know what they are. Sorry.

As of 6pm you should be able to sign up via this link, which is currently just redirecting to the Square Enix’s homepage because the trial isn’t live yet. Ahem.

BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE! Starting today, you’ll also be able to invite friends to play via the aptly-named Recruit A Friend Campaign, which nets both recruiter and recruit bonuses if they then sign up for the full version. If the friend subscribes for 30 days, both the recruiter and said friend will get a Friendship Circlet that increases XP earned by 20% when below level 25. The recruiter will also get an Aetheryte Pendulum which lets them teleport to the aetheryte nearest a New Adventurer on their friends list, for free, regardless of whether or not they were the one who invited them. If the recruit subscribes for 90 days, the recruiter will additionally receive a Draught Chocobo Whistle which lets them summon a two-seater Chocobo.

You can read up on the Recruit A Friend Campaign over here, and as of 6pm you should be able to sign up for the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn free trial via this link.
