Star Citizen

Star Citizen now has a “Director of Persistent Universe”, which is possibly the finest job title anyone in the world can have.

Said Director of Persistent Universe is Tony Zurovec, another Origin Systems alumni who worked on two generations of the Ultima series, and designed and produced the exquisite Crusader games. That’s Crusader: No Remorse and Crusader: No Regret, a pair of rather excellent isometric shooters.

With Star Citizen, Zurovec will be directing design, engineering, and art in the Austin studio, as well as focusing his efforts on the game’s persistent universe. He’ll be reporting directly to Chris Roberts, who described Zurovec as “one of the most talented programmers, game designers, and directors that I know,” which is pretty high praise considering how long Roberts has been in the industry.

Star Citizen is a crowdfunded space trading/combat/single-player/multi-player/online/offline thing, which is currently making more money than a printing press. At this point it’s up to something like $46.6 million, after asking for $500,000. Yeeeeeah.
