system shock 2 (22)

Look at you, hacker: a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?

I don’t think we’ve written about a games bundle for quite some time, but the latest Bundle Stars offer is a bit of a good’un.

The Aftershock Bundle, as it’s named, is offering you eight games for the princely sum of €2.59. No, I don’t know why it’s giving me the price in Euros either, but there you are. According to current exchange rates that’s around $3.52 USD or £2.07 GBP.

The Big Thing you get for your £2 is undoubtedly System Shock 2, a beautifully designed first-person horror/shooter/RPG/survival thing, in space. It’s so good we interviewed a few of the chaps who worked on it some time ago, and spent a long time discussing peculiarities of the design. This bundle is actually cheaper than buying the game stand-alone on GOG or Steam right now, even with their sales.

Of course, that’s not all. You also get UFO: Aftershock and UFO: Aftermath, a pair of slightly rubbish XCOM-alikes. You get Wizardry 6, Wizardry 7, and Wizardry 8, a trio of bloody hard old-school RPGs. You get fantasy turn-based strategy thing Ascension to the Throne, which I’ve never heard of before. And you also get Harvester, one of the creepiest, weirdest, goriest, and most insane point-and-click adventures ever made.

All of the games activate on Steam. You can purchase the bundle on the Bundle Stars website now.
