The best damn ball botherers in the business.

Just in case you haven’t already spent enough money on FIFA 14′s Ultimate Team mode, here are some more virtual cards to ponder. EA Sports has put together a ‘Team of the Season’ for the Premier League, which means more special player cards available inside Ultimate Team ‘packs.’

This set of on-form Premier League stars are available from today. Of all the Premier League players, these ones best know their way around the balls. They’re ball aficionados. The cream of the ball crop. Nobody deals with balls better than these guys. Enough about balls, here’s the line-up:

Starting XI

  • GK: Petr Čech – Chelsea
  • CB: Vincent Kompany – Manchester City
  • CB: Per Mertesacker – Arsenal
  • CB: John Terry – Chelsea
  • LB: Leighton Baines – Everton
  • LM: Eden Hazard – Chelsea
  • CM: Yaya Touré – Manchester City
  • CDM: Steven Gerrard – Liverpool
  • CDM: Aaron Ramsey – Arsenal
  • ST: Luis Suárez – Liverpool
  • ST: Daniel Sturridge – Liverpool

Substitutes & Reserves

  • GK: David Marshall – Cardiff City
  • RB: Séamus Coleman – Everton
  • LB: Azpilicueta – Chelsea
  • CAM: Adam Lallana – Southampton
  • LM: David Silva – Manchester City
  • RW: Raheem Sterling – Liverpool
  • ST: Sergio Agüero – Manchester City

I’m not entirely convinced by that selection of defenders, but there you go. That’s Premier League Team of the Season according to EA Sports.

Vincent Kompany at right back, really? Even in the magical world of FIFA, I don’t understand how that could possibly work. At least put Sagna or Zabaleta in that position, and throw England’s Brave John Terry on general principle. Then move Ramsey to the center, take out Sturridge, and put Sterling on the right. That gives you a reasonable 4-2-3-1 to work with.

    Also, balls.

Yeah it’s a bit sad that they’re effectively saying “nobody who actually plays at Right Back was any good this year.”

“gives you the best of balls” though that was “Match of the day”
