Okay, so this screenshot isn’t exactly adorable, but…

I have no idea how this latest feature of adorable-looking sci-fi MMO is going to work, but if they even approach their potential then Adventures are going to be a hell of a thing.

Adventures are basically 5-man dungeons, only… they’re not dungeons. They’re virtual simulations of zones you’ve already visited, and because they’re virtual, they can include all sorts of stuff that doesn’t fit into the game proper. One might be a tower defence game; another might be a riff on MOBAs. All of them are absurdly replayable, with your actions and choices determining what happens next.

Confused? Yeah, me too. Fortunately, the video below gives a few examples. For instance! In one, you’ll airdrop into an oppressed town, and from there it’s up to you how to proceed. You could sneak around, assassinating and sabotaging guards. You could make a beeline for the farmers and rescue them. You could rally the local populace and turn them into an army to fight against their brutal taskmasters. All of these offer different gameplay elements, different challenges, and different rewards. In short: replayable.

Have a look at the video below, and then go “Hmm” as you wonder exactly how well this will function. WildStar is due out later this year.
