Elite: Dangerous multiplayer footage from alpha phase 2.05 Feb 2014
The development of Elite: Dangerous is continuing at pace, with the latest release expanding the alpha multiplayer options for those who backed the game at appropriate levels (that level is still £200.00 GBP.) In this latest build, there are now four different multiplayer scenarios for people to try out.
There’s a free-for-all “space deathmatch” style mode, a team-based dogfighting mode, a co-op mission where players have to defend a crippled Federal battlecruiser against AI enemies and a ‘Pirates and Bounty Hunters’ mode which involves scanning people and nabbing their cargo (or hunting down those who’ve been breaking the law in such a fashion.)
“Player stat tracking, the multiplayer networking code and associated management are all big new systems that are being tested with Phase 2.0 plus it’s the first time we’ll be able to test how the game mechanics perform with significant numbers of players all playing simultaneously,” says Elite: Dangerous’ David Braben.
Apparently, there will be a pair of other alpha phases before Elite: Dangerous hits the “premium beta access” session. Again, you can buy-in at that premium beta level through the game’s store (at a slightly less eye-watering £100.00 GBP.)
Here’s how the game is looking at present.Related to this story
