A slight disclaimer here, all footage in this video is from the Xbone One version of Titanfall. As a PC only site I wouldn’t usually post these but there was a lot of debate around the maximun player numbers of 6v6 a couple of weeks ago.

The video has been taken from the closed alpha where a limited number of players were invited to take part. This is not from a beta version of the game.

What this video illustrates is the gameplay pace, weapons and levels. It’s apparent from watching the video that there should be no concern over the number of players in a game, the action is fast and frantic. It’s hard to tell the quality of the game’s visuals from the video, but recording resolution aside, this should look quite spectacular on the PC.

Will this game live up to all the hype? Based on what we see here it could take the FPS crown this year.

For some reason it reminds me of the original Tribes when it comes to pace which is a huge compliment as Tribes was one of the finest team based FPS games ever made.

Titanfall launches on 11 March.

I don’t think the concern is the number of players. The concern is the ratio of AI to Human; which is a max of 3 to 1. The game looks great, but I play online to play against people…not 1s and 0s.

As a result, I’ve pulled my PC Pre-Order and will wait for the full game review.

    Thanks for posting though.

It’s DotA-like. AI are just creeps you farm for resources.

Thank you for posting this article and including the Xbox One footage. It’s good that we’re mature enough not to need to be fanboyish against Xbox One and also you’re right when you say it gives a good insight into the frenetic pace of the game. I, for one, am very much looking forward to playing this. I understand why some people prefer to play solely against human opponents but to be fair this doesn’t seem like horde-style coop AI but more like the sort of AI you could use tactically to keep your human enemies occupied while you gain the upper hand and knock them out. In that way it’s like an extra environmental weapon against the opposite team. Who knows, maybe this game might turn out to be completely overhyped but right now all my senses are telling me that I’m really going to enjoy teaming up with other people for some great gaming when this gets released.

Interesting idea of using AI as a distraction. Looking forward to seeing how this will work in practice myself.
