There are going to be spiders again, aren’t there?

Almost Human have released a few new screenshots and a host of new details about forthcoming dungeon-crawler-that-isn’t-set-in-a-dungeon-anymore, Legend of Grimrock 2.

Legend of Grimrock 2 takes place on the Isle of Nex, a dangerous island far away from civilisation where the protagonists – a group of prisoners – once again end up. A dangerous island far away from civilisation where prisoners go? So it’s Australia in the 1800s, then. Regardless: you’ll have to solve puzzles with new mechanics, fight off smarter and deadlier monsters, and explore “dark woods, misty swamps, underground tunnels and ancient ruins.”

In terms of mechanics, spellcasting and potion-making have been reworked in some mysterious way, and so too has the method of acquiring skills. There’s now a “perk-buy system” which apparently allows for more flexible character development. Other than that, you can expect new spells, over 100 new items, a Ratling playable race, and an entirely new character class. All of which pretty much sounds like it’s still Legend of Grimrock, but with a few tweaks to the mechanics.

That’s all for the game, but not all for Legend of Grimrock. The creators of Fallout: Nuka Break took to Kickstarter in search of $100,000 USD for a live-action Legend of Grimrock series, and… well, they have that funding. There are four days left in the Kickstarter if you want to back it, but either way, it’s happening. And as with everything else on Kickstarter, Chris Avellone is attached as writer.

Have a looksee at the new screenshots below. Legend of Grimrock 2 is due out later this year.
