Podcast 150

In honour of our 150th episode, the podcast team has an in-depth discussion about crisp flavours (that’s “chip flavors” for anybody listening in America.) That happens right near the end though, so first you have to sit through a lot of fascinating PC game related chat. Unless you just skip ahead, I suppose. Like a big impatient cheat.

Before all of that crispy goodness, Tim takes the podcast through the exciting DOTA 2 changes in New Bloom, and we all discuss Paradox’s haul of announcements from last week’s convention. Shadow of Mordor turns out to be a cross between Assassin’s Creed and Batman: Arkham Something, plus a dynamic ‘nemesis’ system that probably won’t be as amazing as it’s being portrayed.

Elsewhere, SoE ushers a pack of MMOs into a darkened room and has them killed, before hinting at a game that Star Wars Galaxies fans might like (hint: it’s not another Star Wars Galaxies.) Speaking of MMOs, Michael Gambon has some insights into wanting to be an elf in The Elder Scrolls Online that the podcast team feel should be explored.

This week, Paul has found fascinating new ways to allow a blossoming settlement to die in Banished. Peter hates all crypt lice everywhere in Blackguards. And Tim is all of the Batmen in Infinite Crisis.

You can stream the podcast below, or download it for later listening with a nice packet of crisps. Further podcasts are lurking in the archives, as well as over at iTunes.

Banished sounds fantastic. I haven’t been following it too closely so I wasn’t sure *exactly* what the game would be, but really it sounds better than I’d hoped. As long as the UI is decent, a challenging sandboxy management game…very yes.

I am loving it so far I have to say. I will get a video together this week to show off some of the game mechanics.
