Does anyone know what a “lane strategy” game is? Those words immediately make me think “MOBA”, but I’m pretty sure that this game isn’t one of those.

“This game”, incidentally, is Warhammer 40,000: Storm of Vengeance, a title focusing on the conflict between the Dark Angels and the Orks on the planet Piscina IV. You’ll be able to take control of the 100 Dark Angels defending the planet, or attempt to crush them with Ghazghkull Thraka’s Ork Waaagh! and telly-porta technology. And yes, both “Waaagh!” and “telly-porta” are actual things in this universe.

As this is coming to both PC and mobiles (and as one side will apparently be commanding 100 Dark Angels) it doesn’t really seem to be a MOBA. Perhaps it’s more about shuffling your troops to smart places on the lanes, sort of like a grimdark tower defence title. It might be good. Who knows?

Warhammer 40,000: Storm of Vengeance is being developed by Eutechnyx – the studio behind such marvels as NASCAR: The Game 2013, Ride to Hell: Retribution, Pimp My Ride, and Big Mutha Truckers – and is due out in the first quarter of 2014.

… I hope Relic still has the license and will come out with something epic, not all these indie games (not to berate them, but I want a game on the Dawn of War or Space Marine scale).

Yeah I like 40k, but I also want to see warhammer equivalents of Total War, POE, NWN, AoW3, Skyrim and Dawn of War. They’ve got so much potential and a rich story that game developers really need to grab the bull by the horns and produce something of quality in the Warhammer universe not just Space marineverse all the time.

I don’t think GW is getting out there with their IP’s either with attractive offers, it’s one way to offset the rising cost their highly priced models.

Absolutely! I think Green Ronin’s Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd edition was the best incarnation of that universe, but you could do plenty just with GW’s own material. It’s a wonderful setting for a gritty fantasy RPG.
