GOG offers up first week of sales again, changes special deals18 Dec 2013
Good news for those of you who haven’t been feverishly checking GOG every 24 hours in the hopes of a bargain: in honour of the winter solstice (or possibly – since the winter solstice is Saturday – the mid-GOG sale solstice) they’re offering their entire first week of deals again, for the next 24 hours.
As such, if you missed anything and have been kicking yourself and crying into your Christmas cards ever since, you’ve now got a second chance. For instance: you can grab both Rise of the Triad: Dark War and its modern reboot together for $6.98. System Shock 2 and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs are packaged together for $11.98. Ultima Underworld 1 & 2 and Legend of Grimrock are a mere $6.48 combined. If those aren’t your bag, there are also plenty of money-off offers on things like FTL, Planescape Torment, Outlast, Dragon Commander, Master of Orion 1 & 2, and… well, lots more.
Today also heralds a bit of a change to the way the special deals work. Previously, you picked one of three boxes (indicated as either an old game, a recent game, or a random game) and got a random deal related to your choice. A few days ago I clicked a box at random and was offered Anachronox for $1.74, for instance. Now you’ll be able to see the three games on offer before you choose… but you still won’t be able to see the discount until you actually pick one.
This is particularly cunning because GOG have announced that they’ll be adding a few 100% discounts to these deals, which means that if you get lucky, you might actually get some games completely free.
You can have a look at all the sales over here, in case you haven’t already spent your entire annual salary on games. I hope you haven’t. We’ve still got a Steam sale to go yet.
