Fallout 4

No day would be complete without another update for Fallout 4 and there’s a few things to catch up on this morning.

Latest Update: Further Morse code.

First up let’s look at today’s clue which is a new hidden page that’s been uncovered which reads:

SY684> OVERRIDING PROTOCOL VT-15812 WITH KEY ‘7667

Below this is red flashing message sating:

UNKNOWN ENEMY DETECTED

The first message, which looks like it’s being typed into a terminal, is a clue to deciphering a hidden message on the page.

REV FEAR – MGSS LHM’H EVHV KBIM’R QIUBMU. CB’L Z YYG MN HBM ZQSUB ZZAY

Once run through the Keyed Vigniere Cipher with a reverse alphabet using the key SYNTH, it then reads:

THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT’S COMING. IT’S A KEY TO THE GREAT GAME

This is believed to a be a reference to to Desmond Lockheart who uses the phrase “Great game”.

So more clues but there’s also been other subtle bits and pieces related to Bethesda themselves, which could be nothing but it’s fun to speculate.

There has been a surge in Fallout merchandise taking pride of place in the Bethesda store and there’s even talk of the Cyber Monday sale promo image hiding a map of Boston in the background (not that I can really see it myself). While this isn’t proof of anything it’s worth pointing out.

Retailers appear to be joining the fun with an Austrian retailer now listing Fallout 4 for sale. This again means  nothing as retailers do this all the time so they might have just be the hype train with the test of the community.

No doubt more will appear later today and we’ll add anything to this post to keep things tidy.

The poll has been showing some interesting results. As the days have gone on, more of you are starting to think this is all one big hoax. Let us know what you think by voting. It will be interesting to see how the results pan out when the counter hits zero in eight days time.

Thanks /r/fallout for some of the clues there.
