Non-revelation: “PC far superior to next-gen consoles” says Nvidia
With the PS4 launching last night Nvidia want to be heard. Nvidia’s consumer sales manager at Nvidia Matt Wright has afternoon commented on the brilliance of the PC.
“We are proposing small form-factor PCs to be a viable alternative to the next-gen consoles. Enthusiast players want the ultimate games system and that is the PC. The PC platform is far superior to any console when it comes to gaming, plus you get all the extra functionality that a computer brings. We want to make PC gaming as simple as possible and we think that it already becoming much more relevant and appealing to casual gamers”
Well no shit Sherlock. PCs are known to be better for gaming by gamers but it’s the mainstream audience that need educating and that’s incredibly hard to achieve without a unified brand.
Live Valve, Nvidia sound keen to break down the barrier and tell the public about the wonders of the PC. Valve are on the right track with the Steam Box, it looks like a console which the general public understand. It also the “Steam Box” brand so it’s easier to push out there to the masses if the marketing is done right.
Nvidia rely on third-party PC builders and the systems on offer are not exactly “small” and some can be expensive depending in how you configure it, and that’s half the battle for someone who knows nothing about hardware.
Looking at a system builder’s configuration page by someone who knows nothing about components is a nightmare, it may as well be written is some alien language.
At least Nvidia are trying to get the message out there. The bottom line is, if you want a gaming machine that’s powerful and ultra-versatile it has to be a PC.Related to this story
