Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z stealthily coming to PC
Tecmo Koei have announced that Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, the zombie-battling Ninja Gaiden spinoff, will be wall-jumping its way onto Steam next year.
Yaiba has players taking control of… well, Yaiba. He’s a ninja cut in two and returned to life with cybernetics, and now he’s all about the zombie-slaying, whether with katana, mechanical weapons in his robo-arm (naturally including a chainsaw), or through slightly more improvised methods. Like ripping off a zombie’s arms and using them as nunchucks. Finally, I’ll be able to rip someone’s arms off and beat them with the soggy bit, as I’ve been threatening to do for years.
Yaiba is described as a “stylised, living comic book” and judging by the above screenshot (from the console version) that sounds pretty accurate. I’d expect it will look significantly better on PC, but as of now there’s no word on whether we’ll see any major improvements or if our version will just be a bare-bones port.
Happily, this isn’t following the traditional “it’ll be turning up eventually” timeline, as Tecmo Koei have already said that Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will hit Steam on the same day as the console versions go on sale in the shops. Right now, that’s “early 2014.”
