EA have announced that Titanfall, the sci-fi first-person shooter that has mech-hijacking and wall-running and so on, will be plummeting to Earth in March 2014, and there’s a new trailer to celebrate. More specifically: it’ll be out in the US on 11 March, and in Europe on 13 March. I’m going to guess that it’ll be 14 March for the UK, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Titanfall is the first game from Respawn Entertainment – the new studio created by Infinity Ward co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella, and staffed with a whole lot of former Infinity Ward members. Infinity Ward were responsible for a few little-known titles such as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. If you’ve heard of them, bravo.

This particular shooter is an online-only multiplayer one, but with a plot and NPCs and all sorts of other elements that you’d normally only see in single-player games. As such, I have next to no idea how it’ll work, but I confess I’m intrigued to see how it’ll all play out.

Oh, and just in case you forgot that people responsible for Call of Duty had a hand in Titanfall, there’s also going to be an utterly ludicrous Collector’s Edition of the game. It’ll cost $249.99 and will include an artbook, a schematic poster of the Atlas titan, and an 18″ titan statue complete with a diorama and battery-powered LED lighting. For two hundred and fifty fucking dollars.

On the plus side, I somewhat doubt it’ll be heading to PC – the shot of the collector’s edition (above) only shows the Xbox One copy of the game, and we PC users don’t tend to get too much Collector’s Edition love from publishers these days. We’ll probably just get a Digital Deluxe Edition that will cost almost as much but will instead contain a digital artbook and a unique character helmet, or something.

Anyway: Titanfall. Respawn Entertainment. March 2014. Might be alright. There’s a brand new trailer below, showing off some of the “cinematic multiplayer gameplay.”
