Terrarific: Terraria patch 1.2 goes live, adds millions of things1 Oct 2013
Okay, so sure, there’s a load of bug fixes and the like. There are a bunch of improvements, like the game now being less ravenous when it comes to RAM consumption. There are lots of little tweaks, like new hairstyles and doubling chest sizes, and waterfall creation. There are some bigger tweaks, like enemies having health bars, and the addition of a map, minimap, and overlay, and extra weather conditions like rain and blizzards.
There are also over 1000 new items, 10 new ores, four new wood types, 31 new brick types, new arrow and bullet types, new wing types, new vanity sets, hardmode items letting you change biome or increase your max health, and paintings, and trophies, and… look, lots of stuff. And also eight new friendly NPCs. And four new bosses. And over 100 new enemies. And 15 new pets. And friendly NPCs sell different items depending on the time of day and the biome.
It’s a huge update, is what I’m basically saying.
Pretty spectacular, not least because it wasn’t too long ago when it looked like Terraria would never be updated again. And now, we get an update with so much new stuff it sounds like a massive expansion pack, or a pseudo-sequel, or something. Except it’s free.
As is IncGamers tradition, here’s my favourite patch note: “The sun is now brighter.”
