Montague’s Mount isn’t EXACTLY a cheery virtual holiday, if I’m honest.

It’s 16 October, and you know what that means! Or maybe you don’t. I didn’t, until I discovered that this means Steam has greenlit another load of titles submitted through its Greenlight program. I guess that’s what 16 October means.

This time around there are 37 new titles added to Steam, and there’s a pretty good mix of genres and styles there. Note I’m saying “titles” and not “games”; as before, there are a few apps included in this Valve-approved batch.

The list – copied directly from Steam’s collection, with all names exactly as they’re written there – is as follows:

  • Aartform Curvy 3D 3.0
  • Alien Swarm FP
  • Axis Game Factory – AGF Pro v01.0
  • Blood of the Werewolf
  • CastleMiner Z
  • Elder Sign: Omens
  • The Fall
  • Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold
  • The Fifth Day
  • FOTONICA
  • Fortress Forever
  • Fran Bow
  • Half-Life 2: Capture the Flag
  • Hot Tin Roof
  • Ikaruga
  • Infinity Wars – *Animated* Trading Card Game
  • InkFish
  • J.U.L.I.A. Enhanced Edition
  • Metal War Online
  • Montague’s Mount
  • Neighbours from Hell Compilation
  • Neverending Nightmares
  • Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart
  • Portal Remake Mod
  • Ravensword: Shadowlands
  • Real World Racing
  • RimWorld
  • Starship Corporation
  • Steam Marines
  • Tiny Barbarian DX
  • TowerClimb
  • The Sparkle 2: EVO
  • (un)Lucky7
  • Underhell
  • Universum: War Front – FPS, RTS, MOBA RPG in one Space Epic
  • Violett
  • Wrack

I’m happy to see some, I couldn’t care less about a few, and I’m a little disappointed by others. I admit to being vaguely impressed at a few of the things Valve decided to Greenlight, though, like Portal Remake Mod – a free mod for Portal 2 that slots the original game in there, adds some new weapons and new levels, and fixes a load of errors. I can think of a few companies that would’ve sent off a Cease & Desist as soon as they heard about its existence, rather than sticking it up on their own storefront.

I don’t know much about most, but… let’s have a looksee. Alien Swarm FP is a first-person mod for Alien Swarm, so yeah. CastleMiner Z was the best-selling game on the Xbox LIVE Indie Games platform, and is perhaps best summed up as a combination of Minecraft, guns, co-op, and survival horror. Elder Signs: Omens is a Lovecraftian dice game with your team of investigators trying to stop dreadful Things from breaking through and eating the world. Ikaruga is possibly the most famous shmup in the world. Montague’s Mount is a first-person exploration/puzzler/psychological horror which I’ve been meaning to play properly for ages. Hot Tin Roof is an amazing-looking adventure/platformer which has you exploring a tongue-in-cheek noir-ish city, shooting mooks, questioning the locals, and solving a string of grisly murders. And… that’s about all I know of this lot, I think.
