fifa 14 reznor - 2

Do I really have to point out that this isn’t official box art?

EA have revealed the soundtrack to FIFA 14, and it’s got some fairly impressive artists on there. Well… it’s got Nine Inch Nails, so that’s at least one.

Trent Reznor’s Copy of A will be headlining the latest in the long-running FIFA series, but if you’re not a fan of industrial rock, there’s plenty of other stuff from around the globe to get you ready for some ball-kicking. Like Bloc Party, or Vampire Weekend, or Miles Kane, or Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas, or De Staat.

I’d make a joke about how March of the Pigs would probably be a better fit for a football game but that might make you all hate me more than you already do. Instead, let’s just say that it’d be much funnier if Closer was chosen for a game aimed at everyone. Either way, the full tracklisting (sadly Closer-less) is below, minus one track (Chinza Dopeness’ T.U.B.E.) which will only be appearing on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

  • American Authors – Hit It
  • Amplify Dot – Get Down
  • Bloc Party – Ratchet
  • CHVRCHES – We Sink
  • Crystal Fighters – Love Natural
  • Dan Croll – Compliment Your Soul
  • David Dallas – Runnin
  • De Staat – Down Town
  • Disclosure – F For You
  • Empire Of The Sun – Alive
  • Foals – My Number (Trophy Wife Remix)
  • Grouplove – I’m With You
  • Guards – I Know Its You
  • Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas – Funky Futurista
  • Jamie N Commons – Marathon
  • John Newman – Love Me Again
  • Karol Conka – Boa Noite
  • Los Rakas – Hot
  • Marcelo D2 – Voce Diz Que O Amor Nao Doi
  • Miles Kane – Don’t Forget Who You Are
  • Nine Inch Nails – Copy Of A
  • OK KID – Am Ende
  • Oliver – Mechanical
  • Olympic Ayers – Magic
  • Portugal. The Man – Purple Yellow Red And Blue
  • Robert DeLong – Here
  • Rock Mafia feat. Wyclef Jean and David Correy – I Am
  • Smallpools – Dreaming
  • The 1975 – The City
  • The Chain Gang Of 1974 – Miko
  • The Colourist – Little Games (St. Lucia Remix)
  • The Naked And Famous – Hearts Like Ours
  • The Royal Concept – On Our Way
  • Vampire Weekend – Worship You
  • Wretch 32 – 24 Hours
  • You Me At Six – Lived A Lie

FIFA 14 is due out on 24 September in America and 27 September in Europe, because Americans love FIFA games a lot more than Europeans.

This year’s soundtrack is pretty great, they’ve done a good job of mixing things up effectively – it’s probably my favorite FIFA soundtrack since FIFA 98 introduced me to Blur. I especially like the Jamie N Commons song “Marathon”

Regarding the game itself, while this is probably the most realistic version of the game yet, I think it is not quite as fun as the last couple of years, which I think had a better mix of arcade fun and realism.
