It’s been trundling in development for a while now but the Upheaval Arts are wanting to speed the process along for the StarCraft II powered StarCraft MMO modification called StarCraft Universe.

It’s not often you see a game mod being Kickstarted but this particular project has been a massive undertaking and Blizzard’s has given it the greenlight to be made and funded through Kickstarter. Well they should be behind this, that’s why they made the modding tools after all.

The mod will be released through BattleNet as a series of custom games and promises third person action, challenges, missions, character customisation and multi-player raiding. It’s an ambitious project but the footage that’s trickled out since it was revealed has always looked quite promising, if a little rough around the edges.

How much are they looking for? 80K should do the trick. Read about their goals and rewards on the Kickstarter page.

Thanks Massively.

so blizzard, the one who has around 127.5 mill dollars per month, has the balls to make a kickstart page for a game that costs only a minor percentage of what they get per month?
even modders who are able to make a better game then they do don’t ask money for this, blizzard sunk lower then any company has ever sunk.

No Sorudo, it’s not a Blizzard project, it’s being done by modders.

        rereaded it…….yeah…no.
why would ever pay modders to make a mod, there are plenty of modders on the nexus site that doesn’t ask anything.
they are not modders, they are opportunists who simply want your money for something they could just as much make on there own sweet time.

Unfortunately you couldn’t be more wrong here. I’m one of the devs for SCU and I’ve also done quite a bit of modding for Fallout and Oblivion on the Nexus and I can tell you it doesn’t even compare. The amount of time, work and sacrifice put into this is easily the same level as a full blown indie game. I’m sorry you feel that way about our project and I’m sure if you download SC2 starter edition and play the prologue for SCU you’d think differently about it.

Very interesting that Blizzard gave a postitive nod on this one, I wonder how much they’ve funded if anything. Can someone make a mod for D3 with Blizzards permission :D? Sorry I had to ask :). SCU looks good so far even though I know nothing about the StarCraft series.
