revolution 60

Unorthodox-looking Unreal engine-using indie title Revolution 60 has, ooh, 46 hours to go on its Kickstarter, and – although its basic funding target has been hit – it’s making one last push for money.

Described as “Heavy Rain meets Mass Effect with an all-girl cast,” Giant Spacekat’s Revolution 60 casts you as Holiday, an assassin working for Chessboard – a special ops group headed up by an AI. Holiday’s tasked with finding out why an American orbital weapons platform has wandered off course and wound up over China, and to regain control of the station to prevent nuclear war. As it’s using the tagline “one choice changes everything”, I’m going to guess that the storyline branches pretty heavily. I’m also sorta hoping that the tagline shouldn’t be taken literally and that the whole thing doesn’t come down to one single choice, because that would be a little disappointing.

Revolution 60 has a full voice cast, including Amanda Winn-Lee (Yukiko in Persona 4, Rei in Neon Genesis Evangelion) and Marieve Herington (loads of voiceover stuff, as well as How I Met Your Mother), so it’s certainly not skimping on that end of things.

As Revolution 60 has passed its $5,000 initial goal, the game will be coming to PC and iOS devices. As it has also passed the $10,000 stretch goal, it’ll be coming to Macs. The next stretch goal, at $15,000, will add in a third difficulty level. Backing it for $20 will net you a copy on all platforms on release, which is estimated to be around August 2014.

Revolution 60 looks interesting, at least, and it was apparently well-received at PAX East. I shall be keeping an eye on this one.
