Cyanide have released a trailer for their forthcoming tactical RPG Aarklash: Legacy, and… it actually looks pretty good.

I’m wary of this, obviously, because Confrontation – a rather similar tactical RPG that Cyanide released last year – also looked pretty good, but was a little bit disappointing. So… hm. On the plus side, that was a bit disappointing because of repetitive encounters and level design rather than problems with the base mechanics, so let’s hope those things have had more attention this time around.

Either way, this gameplay trailer shows off the eight characters you’ll be able to pick for your party, ranging from a goblin inventor and an orc shaman to a gigantic ogre. I’m not even going to attempt to spell their names, because this is a fantasy universe and their names likely have more apostrophes than vowels. It shows off the character development, and the ability to pause whenever you like and queue commands, and… well, like I said, it looks rather good. Very Dragon Age: Origins. But I’m still wary.

Aarklash: Legacy is due out on 12 September. I’d advise waiting for our review, but I’m cautiously optimistic about this one. Trailer below.
