Soldiering on: Men of War: Assault Squad 2 announced
I’ve basically given up on trying to keep track of the Men of War series. I mean, they’re decent RTS games and I quite enjoy them, but I’m damned if I can remember which ones came in what order. Men of War, then Red Tide, then Assault Squad, then Vietnam, then… and so on. And now, just to confuse me further, the third game in the series (or the second standalone expansion, if you rather) is getting a direct sequel. Help.
Yep: 1C Company has announced that Men of War: Assault Squad 2 will be coming sometime around winter this year. Assault Squad was the one that focused more heavily on multiplayer, if I remember rightly, and this looks to be going the same way. The feature list includes mention of five factions, single-player skirmishes, eight-player co-op support, and a load of new maps ranging from 1v1 to 4v4 – plus a few gigantic ones for 8v8 play.
Men of War‘s unique selling point has generally been the “direct control” functionality, letting you get behind the controls of any of your units. Can’t be arsed micromanaging that tank around? Take control of it yourself and rumble through some farmhouses. From what I can gather, Assault Squad 2 will offer much the same experience.
Men of War: Assault Squad 2 is due out in Q4 2013. So, winter, then.Related to this story
