Rekoil

505 Games have announced that they’ve partnered up with developer Plastic Piranha to release the heavily moddable FPS Rekoil.

I don’t think we’ve mentioned Rekoil before, but if the word “moddable” being used in the last sentence and in the story headline hasn’t clued you in, it’s a multiplayer FPS with a hefty focus on letting you change pretty much anything you like. You can lower gravity and fight like you’re on the moon; you can change the settings to make it a slow-paced, tactical shooter; you can boost everything and make it a lightning-fast run-and-gun game. Up to you.

What makes this announcement particularly interesting is that 505 Games will also be bringing it to Xbox 360. We don’t tend to cover 360 news here, what with the whole “Exclusively PC Gaming” text at the top of this page, but you’ve got to wonder exactly how the hell that’s going to work. I mean, it’s not like you can open up configuration files on 360. Will the PC version be vastly superior in terms of both mod capabilities and graphics/controls/gameplay? Probably!

Rekoil is currently in closed beta. No word yet on when it’s due out, but we’ll keep you posted.
