MOBA-lising units: End of Nations resurfaces as a MOBA RTS
TRION’s End of Nations slipped off the radar following it’s move from developer Petroglyph to an in-house team at TRION. Originally a free to play RTS, it appears TRION has changed its mind about the game and decided dive into the MOBA scene.
End of Nations played very much like a traditional RTS, create units and then take on the enemy, it wasn’t original by any means but it did give players the opportunity to drop in and out of games which actually worked really well.
With the success of MOBAs such as DOTA 2, LoL and HoN, TRION obviously want a slice of the action with End of Nations. A new beta sign-up page has appeared on the End of Nations site along with an image of named units which names such as Col. Blaze, Decibel, Sidewinder, Hippocrates and The Judge which indicates that players will now control a single “hero” unit.
The updated page also includes a new game description which read as follows:
“End of Nations is a tactical MOBA where your success on the battlefield depends on the heroes and units you command and quick decision making in the heat of combat. Dominate during team-based matches and catapult your commander to the top of the ranks.”
The change in direction will please EA who are working on the new C&C because End of Nations could have ended up as its main competition.
Do we like the new direction for End of Nations? It’s a bold move, but from what we played of the previous Beta test, TRION and Petroglyph appeared to be going in the right direction so this change is a slight disappointment.
