Total War Rome 2 - 01

He’d tell you about these screens himself, but he’s a little hoarse. Wait. Shit. That’s a camel. Wrong joke.

The Creative Assembly and Sega have fired a handful of new screenshots for Total War: Rome 2 at us from an onager, and ooh, but it looks awfully pretty.

The shots display some ground combat in Egypt as well as a few glances of the strategic overview you’ll use to plot your march to glory. We’ve also got hold of a few bits of concept art which show off some rather nice artwork as well as some sketches of units that you’ll be able to field.

Rome 2‘s Battle of the Nile has been a pretty hefty focus over the last week, to the extent that we put up a trailer of it a few days ago. Check that out here.

The devs also sent over a lovely factsheet that outlines some stuff we already knew and confirms some stuff we already expected. Specifically: there will be cooperative and competitive modes for the campaign; there will be lots of different civilisations to play as; there will be hundreds of unique units “from siege engines and heavy cavalry to steel-plated legionnaires and barbarian berserkers.” And, yes, there will be scalable graphics options for those of us with computers that might struggle with the battle scenes.

Total War: Rome 2 is due out on 3 September of this year. Not long to wait, my dear wargamers. Not long to wait at all.
