Nvidia Shield delayed last minute. Now coming in July.

Nvidia Project Shield

You know it’s pretty bad if a product is pulled the day before it’s supposed to be launched. That’s exactly what Nvidia has done today with their handheld device the Nvidia Shield. A statement from Nvidia reads:

During our final QA process, we discovered a mechanical issue that relates to a 3rd party component. We want every SHIELD to be perfect, so we have elected to shift the launch date to July. We’ll update you as soon as we have an exact date.

This last minute delay will be a blow for Nvidia and pre-order customers who are probably raging all over the Intertubes right now and demanding come sort of compensation. At least Nvidia has identified there is a problem before they shipped. If faulty systems had been pushed into the wild that would have caused even more of a shit storm.

Whether the Shield is any good or a complete waste of $299 remains to be seen, it does seem a rather pointless gaming device to me.

    They are not letting us cancel:

    Dear ______________,

    Thank you for contacting the NVIDIA online store.

    We have received your request to cancel shipment of your order;
    unfortunately we were unable to do so. Your order was processed for
    shipment immediately upon completion, and no changes were able to be
    made.

    You will be receiving a shipping notification email shortly. If you do
    not wish to receive the shipment and you would like a refund, you may
    refuse delivery.

    Sincerely,
    Jomar L.

      OK, so how can you refuse a shipment if the shipment is not going to arrive? Very weird.

    @AlphaTerminus: Did they give your order a right to cancel period in the T&C or something?
