Age of Empires II HD

The second installment in the classic Age of Empires series will be re-issued as an HD special edition on Steam next month. 9 April is the date to watch out for, and pre-orders are being taken now at a 10% reduction of the game’s $20.00 USD price tag.

This re-release will include both the Conquerors and Age of Kings expansions, plus full Steam workshop support to allow people to mod Age of Empires II HD in strange and mysterious ways. There’s also mention of tweaks to the title’s multiplayer.

Only GameSpot seem to have access to the trailer, so here it is courtesy of them.

My friend has been nudging me to get AoE II for some time now, but I’ve been weary due to it’s age. This remastering has got me interested, especially seeing the Civilization 5 multiplayer is still as bad since release, however the $20 price tag for some fancy new artwork and bug fixes for a 10+ year old game is bit of a stretch.

    I’ll think about it.
