Ashes Cricket 2013 details hit the crease19 Mar 2013
Cricket is a tough game to translate into a videogame if previous efforts are anything to go by. There have been some decent efforts (I have fond memories of Battle for the Ashes on the Amiga,) but few titles that really stand out as great. 505 Games’ Ashes Cricket 2013 is the latest entry that’s hoping to change that.
A new game engine will give batsmen 360 degree control over their shots, which (you would hope) will place more emphasis on timing and shot selection. On the bowling side, there’ll be a new “line and length” system in place to adapt bowling plans for different batsmen throughout the day. Players will also have full control over field placement.
Pitches will alter and deteriorate throughout the day’s play, and dynamic weather will be a factor in the conditions too.
You will, of course, be able to play a full Ashes series with official England and Australia teams, but limited overs tournaments and leagues will be available for you to take on “the rest of the world” too. No word on whether those squads will be official or not.
For more details, keep an eye on the forums at the game’s official site. The title is coming on 21 June.
