Blizzard’s latest StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm video preview demonstrates all the different play modes that can be found in the upcoming expansion. Of course you’re all pros at SCII so most of this won’t apply, but just in case, it’s all explained before you are pwoned by some ten year old.

I’ve been playing HOTS casually since about mid-December. It’s definitely a big change and I love every ounce of it. In particular the new Matchmaking is very progressive. From left to right you progress (Training > AI > Unranked > Ranked) which is how it should be. Training is a little gimped though, too easy, and the builds aren’t helpful.

Versus AI is better than the custom set-up in Wings of Liberty, an the AI uses more modern builds + doesn’t cheat as much. Unranked is.. not that fun right now, since the pool of people playing is so low they’ve paired me with level 40+ people and I’ve been constantly wrecked against the same exact players.

Ranked I haven’t tried yet because I know ranks will be wiped on release anyways.
