Crytek opens new Austin studio, hires “core team” from Vigil

has announced that it will open its first US-based studio, in Austin Texas, with former Games co-owner David Adams as its CEO. appeared to be the least fortunate studio at the THQ auction last week, attracting no bids from any of the attending publishers (Crytek among them.)

That lack of bids was apparently a surprise to Crytek too, who have now established Adams and (according to former THQ president Jason Rubin) the “core team” from Vigil Games at the new Austin studio. The team is said to comprise of 35 “experienced developers.”

“I’m thrilled to be a part of the newest Crytek studio, which will boast some of the brightest development talent in the industry. The studio’s launch represents Crytek’s commitment to delivering diverse and high quality content to players everywhere,” says Adams.

Vigil was best known for the Darksiders series, an IP that has yet to be auctioned.
